When did you first start using Linux and why? Somewhere around 2000, because I wanted to mess about with TCP/IP stacks. I started with a RedHat and a SuSe install, but I quickly threw those away. Then I started with a Linux From Scratch just to learn a bit more about the setup of linux and so that I could do things my way. It was fun, but of course not very useful in the long run. After a quick search of minimal Linux distros I ended up with SourceMage and I instantly liked that.
How long have you been using the SMGL distribution? That's a very good question actually, I can't really remember when exactly I first tried SourceMage. The important thing is that I was instantly hooked
What piqued your interest in SMGL initially? I was looking for a minimal distro in which I had actual control of the system instead of some annoying and anything but transparent system configuration tools/scripts. I came to Arch Linux, Core Linux and SourceMage, SourceMage definately had the greatest appeal.
What future do you personally see for SMGL? Uh.... Let me get my crystal ball...
Tell us a little bit about yourself. Education/Career/Skills? I studied CS at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. Now I'm a developer in the metrology department at ASML.
Any personal messages for the Source Mage users out there? I don't like to get very personal with strangers
vi or emacs? vim hands down.
KDE or GNOME? Euh ion please, simple, light and not in the way of any of my screen space. Maybe I should look at some other tiling window managers some day.
BSD or GPL? BSD. Free should be free.
What other OS programs/software have you worked on? I'm working on a FastCGI implementation for the xshttpd webserver. You know, I really should invest some more time in that...
Do you have any family? Last I checked, yes.
What other hobbies? Photography, Electronics, Reading, Music, Car Racing
What kind of car do you drive? Or what is your dream car? I drove a 1989 Nissan Micra (March) for about 5 years. Now I ride my bike to work every day, good way to wake up in the morning and wind down from work on the way back.
Please attach a recent photograph of yourself - if you're brave enough ;=) *runs*
